Dog walkers 

 Requirements:

Must be at least 16 years old (to walk dogs alone), and have done a criminal record check (unless a minor then needs written consent from a legal guardian) A driver’s license is recommended.

 Role:

Walking assigned dogs on and off property, as well as walking dogs for clients who cannot do so themselves  

 Responsibility: 

Taking assigned dogs for their walk at the appropriate time and with the right gear for the weather. Picking up any waste left by the dogs during the walk. Make sure the dogs are in their correct kennel and the gear is away in the proper bins. Record the walk in the designated dog’s journal. 

 Fosters 

 Requirements:

Everyone in the household must pass a house inspection, have a criminal record check, have a valid driver’s license, and list all pets in the household.

 Role:

Provide a safe home for the dogs to live in during their training 

  Responsibility: 

Keeping up with the dogs’ training and obedience in the household, picking up and dropping the dogs to and from training and appointments. Maintaining the overall health of the dog 

CIT/CAI Handlers

 Requirements:

Must be over the age of 18, pass a criminal background check, have a valid class 7 driver’s license, have experience with dogs, be a resident of Canada

 Role:

Take the CIT/CAI K9s to facilities such as hospitals, in-person care facilities, etc…

 Responsibility

Making sure the dogs get to the facilities on time and in uniform, acting respectfully and in an appropriate manner well handling the K9, 

Fundraising/event planning

 Requirements:

Minimum of 1 year experience with fundraising and/or event planning.

Role:

 Committee to work with and for under designated Board Member and marketing advisor.  Initiatives may include: fundraising events (annual galas or other more frequent specific events); developing and managing an online store to sell products that educate, and improve awareness of service dogs or support dogs, profits to help generate revenue for the society (potentially for specific goals (ie the purchase of capital assets)., etc.

 Responsibility:

Plan events to raise awareness and fundraise to help support us and help provide others with service dogs.

Ambassadors

Requirements:

Strong Communication skills and a strong understanding of networking. Must have a post-grade education.

 Role:

 To be a specific Committee/Group to support the President and Vice President willing to learn the details of what we do, and how we do it and to seek out other reorganizations to build the network of support, attend networking and public information events to spread information relating to differences between roles of dogs and standards being established within the AAHS Industry and seek out avenues of support, revenue opportunities (CAI/CIT) or sponsorship for the Society and service dog campaigns.

 Grant Writing

 Role:

 To seek out, and identify potential grants that we could apply for, coordinate with the Operations Manager (or the delegate) to develop a plan to satisfy the Grant requirements, (may need the Operations Manager to liaison with other organizations/people to develop a collaborative plan)

Committee Members

 Role:

people with administrative experience to help draft documents relating to HR, Admin, Etc. (i.e. requirements of AAHS Management System)

Team Support Trainers

 Role:

(whether they have experience with persons having disabilities and/or have experience with obedience training in dogs but are not affected by psychiatric conditions themselves to help manage a scene under the direction/supervision of the trainer.  If the person is affected with a psychiatric condition then that person would need to be evaluated on their ability to be the intervention support or be there to support the client so the trainer can then deal with the situation.

 Team Mentors

Role:

Certified Service dog teams provide 1 on 1 support through their own life experiences as a handlers to help develop others to full certification.
